According to the Cancer Council of Victoria, every year, more than 30,500 Victorians will be diagnosed with cancer, and nearly 11,000 will die from cancer. The organisation is entirely independent and not-for-profit, that has been operating since 1937 and continually dedicated to cancer research, prevention and support.
A locally based group of Bendigo Cancer Council volunteers are fundraising on Big Give to raise $5,000. From this, they are aiming to be able to send ten local cancer patients and their partners for a weekend away to the Madison Spa Resort in Moama. The weekend escape will include accommodation, meals and use of the resort facilities as a way to take a break from treatment.
“Going away for a relaxing weekend is a much-needed escape for these people. This will help them to get a break from all of the stress associated with the problems they are currently facing together.” Marlene Tingley, Bendigo Cancer Council Volunteer.
All money raised will go entirely towards this worthy project. We are looking forward to seeing them reach their $5,000 target to fulfil this very worthy project on Big Give.
